I attended Dr Fugh-Berman's 5th Pharmed Out conference at Georgetown University, where I took the photos on this page. Two days of data flying at me, very distressing to hear that the main form of death through drug overdose is from fentanyl, most deaths from it being prescribed by nurse practitioners.
We heard a lot of other horror stories too, one of the worst was the pushing through the FDA of a pink pill called Addyi, that not only does not work, but causes horrible side effects. The owners of the drug company walked away with 2 billion. Persistence certainly pays.

I would love to say that selling pharmaceuticals is entirely ethical and does not ever involve bribes, violence and lots of sex, but I cannot. I always found that pharmaceutical reps were drop-dead gorgeous and drive BMWS. If you watch it, be warned to keep children away.
